ENERGY STAR is a program of the EPA & DOE
- Focus is energy savings
- Sets energy standards for products and building for their energy use. Items made to ENERGY STAR requirements are generally 30% more efficient than something built to code
- Qualifies products to those standards
- They list the approved products and participating manufactures
- They inspect and certify buildings to the standards
- Roofing is one of the products in the program. To be listed the roof must:
- New Material - .65 reflectance min.
- Sure-Weld - white > .85 tan > .65
- Sure-Seal White > .85
- Aged Material [below the bullet “Sure-Weld Tan” add new bullet]
- Aged Material (3 yrs. min.) - .50 reflectance min. after washing
- Sure-Weld White
- .60 or greater before washing
- .80 or greater after washing
- Sure-Weld Tan
- .55 or greater before washing
- .65 after washing
- Sure-Seal White: .66 after washing
