  • ENERGY STAR is a program of the EPA & DOE
  • Focus is energy savings
  • Sets energy standards for products and building for their energy use. Items made to ENERGY STAR requirements are generally 30% more efficient than something built to code
  • Qualifies products to those standards
  • They list the approved products and participating manufactures
  • They inspect and certify buildings to the standards
  • Roofing is one of the products in the program. To be listed the roof must:
    • New Material - .65 reflectance min.
      • Sure-Weld - white > .85 tan > .65
      • Sure-Seal White > .85
    • Aged Material [below the bullet “Sure-Weld Tan” add new bullet]
    • Aged Material (3 yrs. min.) - .50 reflectance min. after washing
      • Sure-Weld White
        • .60 or greater before washing
        • .80 or greater after washing
      • Sure-Weld Tan
        • .55 or greater before washing
        • .65 after washing
      • Sure-Seal White: .66 after washing
      • Products that qualify for ENERGY STAR
        • Sure-Weld TPO White
        • Sure-Weld TPO Tan
        • Sure-White EPDM
